Volunteering is a proud tradition at the Crisis Center of West Texas. We are always seeking highly motivated volunteers to join us in our mission.
Crisis Response Team
Our Crisis Response Team (CRT) members take calls to provide support to survivors of sexual assault. The call is activated by law enforcement or hospital personnel, and you are expected to be at the emergency room within 30 minutes. Your CRT duffle bag contains resource materials for the survivor, a change of clothing, and a small amount of petty cash to use if the survivor needs something. You may keep a survivor company while they receive medial treatment, watch children while the survivor is interviewed by police, or just provide a shoulder to cry on. This role requires training, but is so important to the community.
Volunteers must complete 40 hours of Sexual Assault Certification Training followed which includes 8 hours of onsite observation.
We can accommodate your volunteer schedule as needed, and provide comprehensive support throughout the process. In addition to the extensive training, you are provided with all materials you could need during a call.
We are happy to accept volunteers with any skill level or amount of time available. Some common volunteer needs are:
- Groundskeeping and cleaning at our administrative office
- Preparation of educational materials
- Organization of incoming donations
- Special event assistance, including with Wonder Girls summer camp, Dancing with West Texas Stars, and more
